A lot of people spend hours at the gym but then go out and eat all the wrong things. The body is like a machine, if you don't put the right kind of fuel into it, it won't work properly. In physical terms, you're looking at weight gain and bad health, apart from other problems.
The right thing to do is to make sure you eat mostly healthy foods. I'm not saying you can't let go and enjoy yourself once in awhile, but if you stick with health food, you will be lean and look great. It's as simple as that.

1. Pumpkin and pumpkin seeds - Pumpkin seeds are filled with magnesium and pumpkin itself is a high satiety food, meaning that if fills you up with very little calories helping you to avoid overeating. It also contains vitamin A and is high on fiber which is good for the digestive system.
2. Sardines - These fish are a wonderful and healthy food for you to eat. They are full of Omega-3 and calcium and are also rich in other substances like Iron, zinc, and vitamin B. Make sure to avoid eating salted sardines, eat them in their own oil or in olive oil instead.
3. Green teas - Drinking tea can be very healthy. Green teas are rich in antioxidants which can help delay the aging process. Green Tea shouldn't be drunk with sugar as it's fattening. Try some wild honey instead.
4. Sweet potatoes - Loaded with Vitamin C, rich in Fiber and potassium, Sweet potatoes are a healthy food item and one which children and adults like so you can and should make them part of your family's menu.
5. Brown rice - White rice is much less healthy than the natural brown rice which is full of Vitamin E and B-6, copper and zinc, and also fills you up for a long time and so helps reduce hunger.

The following foods are ADHD diet super stars:
Nutrient rich foods. Fruits and vegetables should form the bulk of anyone's diet. Lightly steamed, in soups, raw as snacks and in salads, they are perfect foods for ADHD kids. Blueberries are especially supportive of brain health.
Omega-3 fatty Acids. ADHD kids are often low in them and deficiency has been linked to everything from impulsive behavior to aggression, dyslexia, depression, and temper tantrums. Get Omega-3s from low-mercury fish and from fish oil supplements.
Ground flax seeds and nuts. Flax seeds and nuts, especially walnuts, are rich in fatty acids and lignans, often lacking in our diets. Throw a tablespoon of ground flax seeds in a fruit shake-- it won't taste any different, but it'll be thick, creamy and super healthy!
Make sure your child avoids:
Foods with artificial colors and preservatives. Recent studies have demonstrated a connection between food colorings and preservatives and hyperactivity and inattention. Junk foods. We all know that sugar and empty calories are bad for us. Leave candy bars and soda out of their diet. They have no nutritional value and may aggravate ADHD symptoms.
"Bad" fats. Trans fats and saturated fats have been linked to all sorts of degenerative diseases, from heart disease to various cancers. Skip anything deep fried and anything that has partially hydrogenated fats in it.
Wheat and dairy products. Gluten and casein can provoke allergic responses in some kids. And it's not just allergies that are problematic: sensitivities to particular foods may also alter enzyme function in the brain, affect the production of neurotransmitters and histamine release. Many parents have seen a difference in their child's behavior when they've excluded gluten containing grains and dairy product from their children's diets. Make millet, quinoa, oatmeal instead; encourage your child to try rice, almond, soy or hemp milk.
Diet for ADHD can be amazingly effective but there are a few things you must keep in mind if you are really committed to making it work.
You have to give it time. Improvements will not happen overnight. Doctors generally say that improvements can be expected between three and six months after starting on the diet.
Realize that brain health is a family affair. While there are certainly specific allergy considerations for each ADHD child, diet for ADHD supports brain health and overall health. The entire family will benefit from it! Eating fruits and vegetables is not a punishment and is not something that the child should do in isolation!
Most importantly, it's the combination that's effective! No single thing will make a difference by itself; it's the overall approach that supports brain health and helps diminish ADHD symptoms. Diet is just one part of the answer.
Eating the right foods for ADHD is a huge step in the right direction, but it's only a step. ADHD is a complicated disorder and it must be attacked on many fronts simultaneously. Diet for ADHD is most successful when combined with additional modalities such as behavior therapy, changes in the family and home environment, as well as homeopathic remedies to address certain specific ADHD symptoms.

What we eat determines a lot about who we are and how we behave, apart from the basic fact that it also determines how healthy we are. In recent times an increasing number of people have been turning towards professional help and guidance where there daily in take is concerned. And most of such people are those recuperating from an ailment - chronic, major, or minor. That is the problem with people, they wait for disaster to strike in order to take control of their life.
In fact, while many overlook the need to follow a healthy dietary routine; experts insist that one can prevent any kind of disease by following a proper food intake regime. This would include proper eating timing, proper meals in the day and most importantly following a vegetarian diet.
The physiology of the human body is such that it can easily digest any kind of vegetarian food, as well as fruits and nuts. Any other kind of food remains in the digestive system longer, creating disease in the body. One should realize that the human body is required to follow a normal process of eating, digesting and excreting. And this process will happen undisturbed with vegetarianism being a way of healthy living.
According to food experts, by eating right and light, one can also control their stress levels. Obviously, along with a good diet regime, one needs to also practice stress control methods such as varied breathing techniques, yoga, aerobics, meditation, etc.; whatever keeps the mind healthy, permitting flow of oxygen into the mind and body.
In fact, a vegetarian diet helps one eat the required six to seven small meals a day, instead of large and heavy two to three meals. These six mini meals could include:
Breakfast: a bowl of cereals with a glass of milk, or juice, or tea or coffee Between breakfast and lunch: A bowl of fruit salad; or a bowl of any one fruit of preference (preferably the fruit of the season)
Lunch: Vegetables with rice or bread along with some salad
High Tea: Sprouts, or a vegetable sandwich, or a handful of dried fruits and nuts
Pre-dinner: A vegetable soup with some salad
Dinner: Vegetable with rice or bread
Along with this one can add tender coconut water along with the fruit (mid-morning). Also one should have two to three liters of water (Note: those with a water retention problem should ask a medical practitioner about the amount of water intake).
Following this kind of a vegetarian routine can prevent all kinds of health related problems. But then, one should also bring into this eating routine some kind of daily physical recreational activity. As this, as mentioned earlier is fresh flow of oxygen, as well further activates the body's digestive and circulatory system.
Also, one should make it a habit to stroll for about five to ten minutes after every mini-meal and twenty minutes after every major meal. This should be a light brisk walk.
